Daravanh Harlany and her husband Pramudyo are set to open up Asuka Sushi-Hibachi in the former Subway on Towson Avenue within the next seven days.

Inspections from the city and the health department are scheduled for the forthcoming restaurant in the 4700 block of Towson. Subway built a larger restaurant next door last year.

Asuka, pronounced Ahska, will have hours of operation from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. Sunday. Their hibachi chef is Koko.

Asuka means “flying kite or bird,” and “tomorrow” and “fragrance” and is connected to a thought of being “a new day,” Harlany said.
