ASIAN KITCHEN EXPRESS

Asian Kitchen Express is set to open today at the corner of Midland Boulevard and 43rd Street in Fort Smith.

Having cooked for customers in Spiro from 2010-16, Vilay Sinbandhit brings her secret recipes to Fort Smith in a newly remodeled and expanded building next to the Arkansas Oklahoma State Fairgrounds for both dine-in and take-out orders.

Final inspections were being done Friday for the new restaurant at 3842 Midland Blvd., directly across from Buddy’s Home Furnishings. A drive-through will be considered by the owners at a later date.

Gray-Mac of Spiro has been the general contractor on the job, which began last March with demolition and new construction of more than half the building. According to Fort Smith Building Safety, the little building once housed an insurance agency.

Anthony Sinbandhit, son of Vilay, said they have been working on building up capital for the move since 2015. The family business closed on Broadway at Spiro in November. It has since been occupied by Bea’s Asian Cuisine.

Garon Smith of Gray-Mac said Asian Kitchen is known for having “excellent egg rolls.”

Asian Kitchen Express’ Facebook posts have kept customers up to date since early last year on the construction of their Fort Smith restaurant.

The Sinbandhits note on their Facebook page that as a token of their appreciation to their customers’ patience, during the grand opening of Asian Kitchen Express all entrées purchased will include a free soft drink or tea, an eggroll and a crab wonton until Sept. 3.
