John Bell Exhibit - Original Paintings

Two hundred years in the making, 2018 will mark the bicentennial of one of the oldest cities in the country, Fort Smith, AR. To help celebrate this historic event, RAM has organized an exhibition by Fort Smith legend and native, John Bell, Jr. (1937-2013).

Bell was an acclaimed American painter and sculptor whose career spanned nearly fifty years. His memories and influences of western Arkansas and eastern Oklahoma are the topics reflected in most of his works. Bell had a keen appreciation for the beauty of our state and the character of its people.

This dynamic exhibit will showcase works by John Bell, Jr. that reside in private collections across our region, brought together to honor this truly unique artist and his works, that literally painted our local history.

Beauty and the Beast Storytime with Belle

Fans of Beauty and the Beast won't want to miss this special storytime with Belle. Don your royal clothes and bring your royal subjects to share the magic with Gabrielle Gore, who is starring as Belle in the Community School of the Arts upcoming production of Beauty and the Beast.

Gabrielle attends Muldrow High School and the Community of the Arts. Intrigued with a love of music, Gabrielle began vocal training at a very young age. She currently studies classical opera, jazz, country, and oldies, as well as musical theater. A perfomer with the Tulsa Opera, she holds three National Youth Arts Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Musical which include Mary in Mary Poppins; Wednesday in The Addams Family; and Adelaide in Guys and Dolls. Gabrielle has recently made her debut as a vocalist with the Fort Smith Symphony. From a young age, Gabrielle has always had a strong connection with Belle due to her love of reading. She is so excited to play this iconic role in CSA's upcoming performance of Beauty and the Beast.

Synopsis:

In an avaricious family of Southern entrepreneurs in 1900, is a woman who would consider killing her husband, bartering her daughter, and double-crossing her brothers to get the ruling interest in a cotton mill. The good characters in the moneyed Hubbard clan are saintly, the bad ones dastardly, and they fight a battle to the literal death. Thievery, blackmail, and possible murder in small town Alabama.
