Carlos Luna Exhibit

Carlos Luna is a contemporary Cuban-American painter, sculptor, printmaker, and ceramicist. Duality is a common theme in Cuban art, and Luna’s art embodies the internal struggles of an artist who has been uprooted. His art references the artistic traditions of the Cuban Havana School influenced by Wifredo Lam, the European Cubist paintings of French artist Fernand Léger, the storytelling of Mexican muralism and even the horror vacui of the Latin American baroque. This exhibition will feature over 50 works of this prolific artist, that include mixed media on wood, large-scale tapestries, and works on paper. General admission is always free. Opening reception is Thursday, June 1, 5-7PM, free for members, $5 for non-members.

Katie Harper Exhibit

For the past 25 years, Harper’s commercial graphic design work has informed her fine art, and vice versa. This retrospective exhibition will explore the ways that design concepts and production methods, both old and new, influence fine art, especially with regard to technique. It will include explorations into photography and printmaking, as well as award-winning letterpress and book arts.

General admission is always free. Opening reception is Thursday, June 1, 5-7PM, free for members, $5 for non-members.

River Valley Artisan Market

Join us for a unique shopping experience in Downtown Fort Smith at every first Tuesday of the month from May until October at Ross Pendergraft Park.

The River Valley Artisan Market will feature locally-made products in an outdoor, evening market setting. This is a celebration for locals, neighbours, visitors, and families to enjoy!

The River Valley Artisan Market is held in conjunction with the #GoDowntownFS First Tuesdays event. Performers, non-profits, artists, urban farmers, and craftspeople are encouraged to apply by emailing rivervalleyartisanmarket@gmail.com

Tinkering Tuesday

Tinkering Tuesday program encourages girls to do what they do best - let their curiosity take over! Daisy, Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts, come explore the world of engineering by building machines and creating processes, and then explore what happens when you make changes or do things differently. Programming takes place every first Tuesday of the month. Not a Girl Scout? No problem! You can register for Girl Scouts when you register for the event.

First Tuesdays of Downtown Fort Smith

First Tuesdays sponsored by the Fort Smith Downtown Business Association kicks off May 2 from 5-8pm. Join us as your favorite retail shops stay open late and grab a wonderful meal at a DT Restaurant. 

The Park at Westend will be open and offering FREE rides for kids 12 and under. Fort Smith Farmer's Market on Garrison Avenue will be open and will be joined by the antique car club. Across the Avenue The River Valley Artisan Market will be in Pendergraft Park with creative artist vendors and food trucks. 

Did I mention that we will have pony rides and face painting? The students from the Community School of Arts will be offering their talents at FacePainting and performing on the Avenue. The Lawbreakers and Peacemakers will be strolling the avenue for great photo opportunities! Grab a free hot dog compliments of First National,The Courtyard by Marriott and Arvest in the parking lot by the beautiful Unexpected mural. Thank you to Pepsi for providing beverages for this community event. 


The Pistoleers and Petticoats will be reenacting train robberies to passengers on the trolley for 1st Tuesdays. We are also pleased to have the Fort Smith Trolley Museum open for this event.
