2017 Arkansas-Oklahoma State Fair

The Arkansas Oklahoma State Fair has something for everyone! Be a part of the 81st annual Arkansas-Oklahoma State Fair.

Begun in 1936 as the Fort Smith Livestock Exposition, the Arkansas-Oklahoma State Fair has grown into one of the premier events in the region. The 2017 fair continues the tradition by educating and entertaining over 2,500 exhibitors, vendors and over 150,000 visitors during this nine day celebration.

Dew-vies: 10 Things I Hate About You (PG-13)

Dew-vies, movies at Dewey’s, will be shown every Sunday afternoon during the month of September at the Café in the Main Library. This week’s feature will be 10 Things I Hate About You (PG-13). A family rule forbids a teenager from dating until her unpopular, rebellious, older sister gets a suitor of her own in this modern remake of Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew." Bring your family or a friend to enjoy this funny yet romantic drama at Dewey’s Café!

Friends of the Fort Smith Public Library Chocolate Festival

Date: Sunday, September 24, 2017

Location: Dallas Branch Library 8100 Dallas Street Fort Smith, Arkansas

Chocolate - Chocolate - Chocolate! The Friends of the Fort Smith Library will turn the Dallas Branch Library into a Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory of sorts as an abundance of chocolate drips throughout the building. Local clubs, businesses and individuals will offer their favorite chocolate samplings to the chocoholics of Fort Smith. Tickets to the festival are $7 for six tastes of chocolate; price includes a to-go-box. All proceeds from the Chocolate Festival will be used by the Friends of the Library for special materials and programs at the Library. Helping out never tasted so good!
