First Friday Friends: World Smile Day (for Adults)

Date: Friday, October 6, 2017
Time: 10:30am to 12:00pm
Location: Fort Smith Public Library 3201 Rogers Avenue Fort Smith, Arkansa

Expand your circle of friends at the Fort Smith Public Library at this monthly program featuring fun activities and social time for adults. This month we will be celebrating World Smile Day and random acts of kindness. Harvey Ball, a commercial artist created the smiley face in 1963. That image went on to become the most recognizable symbol of good will and good cheer on the planet. As the years passed Harvey became concerned about the over-commercialization of his symbol, and how its original meaning and intent had become lost. Out of that concern came his idea for World Smile Day, a day devoted to smiles and kind acts throughout the world. Coffee and light refreshments will be available. This library program is intended for adults.
